Sanctuary of Another Dimension – Visiting Tsubaki Dai Shrine

We left Tado Taisha Shrine and drove to our next destination. Our destination is Tsubaki Oyashiro, a former shrine located in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture. From Tado Taisha Shrine, it takes about 40 minutes to drive along a lush green mountain path. The view from the car window was filled with deep green mountains, and the villages scattered within them gave off a nostalgic scenery. I was experiencing the hustle and bustle of the city and felt the breath of nature, and I was thrilling my expectations for Tsubaki Dai Shrine.

Tsubaki Daijinja Shrine is the Ichinomiya of Ise Province and is also known as Sarutahiko Daijinja Shrine, one of the oldest shrines in Japan. Its history is said to date back to the age of the gods, and has been revered by people since ancient times. As a shrine dedicated to Sarutahiko Ogami, the god of opening the way, it is said to have a variety of benefits, including improving luck in warding off evil, traffic safety, and prospering business, and many visitors visit. I also decided to visit this place with a strong desire to experience the history and sacred atmosphere.

When we arrived at Tsubaki Daijinja Shrine, the first thing that caught our eye was a serene space surrounded by lush trees. Cedars and cypress trees, several hundred years old, tower over them, and the approach continues in between. The air was clear, and every time I took a deep breath I felt a refreshing feeling like my body and mind were being purified. The torii gate at the entrance to the shrine was beautifully painted vermilion, making it look like an entrance to another world. As I passed through the torii gate, I raised my expectations for the mysterious experience that was about to begin and gave a calm bow.

According to the historic writings, Tsubaki Dai Shrine is located in the central part of Japan's land, and comes from the auspiciousness of Sarutahiko Ogami, a national deity since ancient times, when Takayama Nyudogatake and Tanyama Tsubakigatake were the main camps. Founded in the 27th year of Emperor Suinin's Reign (3rd BCE), based on the oracle of Yamatohime Mikoto, this is truly Japan's oldest shrine, Engishiki Naisha, and Ise Province Ichinomiya. It is said that divine virtues have been manifested in the world since ancient times, including the shrine to appeal to Emperor Shomu, the general worship of the Kujo family, the reverence of the lords of the domain such as Honda, Itakura, and Ishikawa, and the protection of the mansions to be lifted by the Metropolitan Police Department, the festival of the Divine Villas and the protection of the mansions lifted by the disaster.

Although there was an unfortunate lack of investigation at the beginning of the Meiji period, each official conducted an on-site investigation by the Ministry of the Jingu Shrine's Home Office in 1935, and as a result of an indication of the national currency order, it was confirmed that it was the main shrine of the heaven and earth god Sarutahiko Ogami. The festivals are held one day, one 11th, and one 21st, and the traditions of the gods' society are maintained by the Yamamoto Shinto family. Tsubaki Dai Shrine, which has gathered the faith of many people over its long history and has overcome various difficulties, can be said to be a true symbol of Japan's history and culture.

Main shrine - Meet with Sarutahiko Okami

First we headed towards the main shrine. The approach is a gentle slope, with mossy stone lanterns lined up on both sides. As I walked slowly along the approaching path, where the sunlight filtered through the trees, I quietly offered my prayers. As I approached the main shrine, the sacred atmosphere grew, and I felt a sense of washing my heart.

The enshrined deity is Sarutahiko Ookami, the main deity. The Aoden enshrined are the Ninigi Mikoto and Takuhatachijihime Mikoto, and the Ameno Uzume Mikoto and the Konohana Sakuyahime Mikoto are enshrined as worshippers. The opening ceremony was enshrined by Gyoman Daimyojin.

When Sarutahiko Ogami descended, he was greeted by the heavenly grandson, Ameno Yachimata as the "Ogogami of the Way" and led the way to Takachiho Mine. For this reason, in the autumn of 27th year of the 11th Emperor Suinin, the shrine was sought in this place as the "Doubetsu Ogami Shrine" by Yamatohime no Mikoto, as the Omikami who formed the foundation of the founding of the nation. During Emperor Nintoku's reign, the company name was named after the character "Tsubaki" by Gorimu, and it continues to this day.

Sarutahiko Okami is known as the god of opening up the road, and is believed to lead you to the right path when you are at a crossroads in your life or when you face difficulties. It is also said to have various benefits, such as traffic safety, prosperity in business, and good fortune to ward off evil and evil, and is revered by many people.

As the main shrine of over 2,000 shrines nationwide enshrining Sarutahiko Ogami, I bowed my head deeply and expressed my gratitude at this place, which is revered as the "Ground Ghost Sarutahiko Ogami." At the same time, he asked for guidance in life in the future and offered his quiet prayers. The solemn atmosphere of the main shrine and the feeling of being enveloped in sacred energy were indescribable in words. Behind the main shrine, a sacred tree with a divine aura rose, and I was overwhelmed by its presence.

Kohryu Shrine – Bringing the breath of the dragon god

After visiting the main shrine, we decided to take a walk around the shrine grounds. The first thing that caught my eye was Kan'eryu Shrine, located just after passing through the Ichino torii gate.

Kokuryu Shrine is a shrine that worships the Kinryu Ryujin, White Dragon God, and Black Dragon God as enshrined deities. It is said that a dragon god resides in a 400-year-old fir tree, protecting the sacred realm. The stunning sacred tree gave us an overwhelming sense of power just by its presence.

Since ancient times, the Dragon God has been worshiped as the god of water and the god of fertility. It is also said that it has the power to boost your luck and bring about financial luck. By touching the sacred trees at Kohryu Shrine and feeling the energy of the dragon god, I felt the mind and body to activate and feel a new vitality. I also gently touched the sacred tree and asked him to share the power of the dragon god.

Invitation to Another Dimension – To the Depth of Nino Torii

After visiting Kohryu Shrine, it was time to pass through the Nii Torii gate. The moment I passed through the torii gate, I took my breath. It was a completely different world. To put it in words, it is the universe itself. It was a space in a different dimension, different from the real world. The surrounding scenery has changed completely, and even the colour of the air appears different. I was surrounded by a strange feeling, almost like I had traveled back in time.

More trees grow on both sides of the approach, making it even dim even during the day. However, a mysterious light shining through the darkness gave off a fantastic atmosphere. By entering this other dimension, I felt like I was forgetting my everyday worries and anxiety, and being freed from my mind.

Mifune Iwaza...Touching the mysteries of the gods, the advent of the gods

As we continued along the approach, we saw Mifune Iwakura on our left. This is a place where legend remains, that in ancient times, the flying ships of the heavenly grandson, Kongi-san and his group arrived and led them from this place to Kyushu. Three stones are placed in a square sanctuary covered with shimenawa and covered with boulders, and is said to be an Iwaza that houses the three gods enshrined at Tsubaki Daijinja Shrine. Sarutahiko Ojinson is enshrined in the center of the Iwaza.

As I approached Mifune Iwaza, an overwhelming power that I had never felt before ran through my whole body. At the same time, I saw a very beautiful light pouring into it. Why is there such a special place so beautiful? The mysterious sight just overwhelmed me. I was deeply moved by the sacred place, as if the gods had descended.

Tsu01

This place is a god of the gods that is once again featured in the Noh song "Uzume", and it has been passed down as the ship of Konogi-san and his group arrived. I felt a strange feeling, like the world of mythology and the real world intersected. I quietly closed my eyes in front of Mifune Iwaza and tried to feel the energy of the gods. Then a gentle feeling spread out, like a warm light shining through my heart.

Jinnanbi - The sacred energy of Tsubakigatake

It is also said that Tsubakigatake, which is behind the main shrine, was worshiped as Kannabi. Many Japanese stone temples exist on the middle side of Mt. Iridoga, and are the ruins of ancient worship. Jinnanbi is the realm of Shinto that includes the Spirits and Yorishiro, where divine spirits (gods and spirits) reside.

Or, as a godly age, the natural environment is called a divine object. It refers to mountains and forests where gods "settle" or "hidden" or "live in," as well as forests, sacred trees, forests and mountains of sacred deity, or sacred bodies that become sacred trees and rock terrain. The entire Tsubakigatake is filled with sacred energy.

Takayama Dokojin Tomb - The power to sleep in the tomb of Sarutahiko Ogami

As I continued walking, the Takayama Dokoshin Tomb appeared on my left. This is the place that is considered to be the tomb of Sarutahiko Ogami. The keyhole-shaped tomb is the tomb of Sarutahiko Ogami, and the Yamamoto Shinto family, as a Shinto family directly from the Ogami, continues to protect this tomb from the era of the gods.

As I stepped into Takayama Dokojin Tomb, I felt a sense of refreshment, powerful and encompassing power, and a sense of security. I was surrounded by a warm feeling, almost as if I was being embraced by Sarutahiko Okami. I stood there for a moment and closed my eyes quietly. Then, silence came to my mind and I felt a deep sense of peace.

Sarutahiko Ogami was revered as the "Amaterasu Omikami" who brought peace and happiness to the heavenly grandson and the Omiya-dokoro, the permanent residence of the Imperial Great Shrine, due to his hunch with Amaterasu Omikami.

He is believed to have been spiritually successful in the land of the Earth, protecting the safety of the land and the home, and protecting the land and residences, as well as in the ground-breaking ceremony, building, easing disasters, improving luck in the elimination of evil, home safety, good health, traffic safety, travel safety, business prosperity, good fortune, good fortune, good fortune, good fortune, good fortune, advancement of education and training, and business success. I bowed my head deeply in front of Takayama Dokojin Tomb, hoping for the blessing of Sarutahiko Okami.

After visiting Tsubaki Daijinja Shrine, I was filled with deep emotion and gratitude. I was able to experience the mysterious space that was like an alternate dimension, the powerful energy of the gods, and most importantly, the warm and inclusive power of Sarutahiko Okami. This worship was an unforgettable and precious experience for me.

Through this visit, I was able to face myself and clarify my goals for the future of life. I was also able to remember once again the gratitude that I often forget in my daily life. Tsubaki Dai Shrine has become a special place for me, not just a tourist destination, but a place of restoration. From now on, I would like to continue visiting this place from time to time, experiencing the energy of the gods, and helping myself grow.
