The establishment of Kida Taisha Shrine is very old, and its history is said to date back to the era of God. It appears in literature during the Nara period, when poetry was written in the Manyoshu. Otomo no Yakamochi was a poet involved in compiling the Manyoshu, and was also a high-ranking official under the Ritsuryo system who was promoted to Chunagon. In March 746, he was ordered to become Echizen-gun, and he served in Echizen-China (Noto Province was part of Echizen-China) for five years. In 2014, when Iemochi visited various parts of Noto, he first visited Kita Taisha Shrine and was said to have been impressed by the gods. This also shows that at the time, Kida Taisha Shrine was already well-respected as an important shrine. The owner of the house is
"I pray to the stove of Umi Sachi's leopard before him."
I sang. This poem is a poem of a person praying with white sleeves in front of the god of Kida Taisha Shrine, the god of seafood, conveying the pious feelings of the house owner to the god.

In the Azuchi-Momoyama period, Kida Taisha was heavily revered by Maeda Toshiie, who ruled the Kaga domain, and successive lords. The Maeda family positioned Kida Taisha as the guardian deity of Noto, and actively supported the construction of the shrine building and festivals. Its protection continued throughout the Edo period, and Kida Taisha Shrine established its position as an important prayer site for the Kaga domain.
Hatakeyama Motokuni was a great guardian daimyo during the Muromachi period, ruled over four countries: Kawachi, Kii, Echichu, and Noto. His second son, Hatakeyama Mitsuyoshi, was given the Noto, one of them, and became the Noto Hatakeyama clan, and became the shogunate daimyo. Wakamiya Shrine was rebuilt by the Hatakeyama clan. It has been designated as a national Important Cultural Property as a valuable remains that conveys the architectural style of the Muromachi period to this day.

Not only Wakamiya Shrine, but the main shrine (Okiki no Mikoto), the shrine hall, the shrine gate, and Hakusan Shrine are nationally designated important cultural properties, while the Shinto and the Shinto shrine are both prefectural designated cultural properties. The grounds of Kida Taisha Shrine are truly a treasure trove of historical buildings and are captivating visitors.
A virgin forest that lives in the unenterable forest and sacred area
The shrines protected by the Kaga Domain are a natural monument in the country. This shrine cluster is called "Entrance no Mori" and the Okumiya Shrine is enshrined. For over 400 years, the forest that cannot be entered has been prohibited as a sacred area. This forest is only used when even priests carry out a ritual at the Okumiya once a year. This is a primeval forest that is approximately 33,000 square meters in size, and is full of trees that are 300 to 500 years old.

The Unentou Forest is a precious place with untouched nature, and its mysterious atmosphere overwhelms visitors. Huge trees tower in the dense forest, mossy rocks and old tree roots create a unique landscape. In the silence, you can hear only the sounds of birds singing and the scuffing of leaves from the trees, you can feel a sense of unity with nature in peace.
It was once believed that a god would descend into this forest, and to protect its holiness, it was prohibited from access to the public. Even today, only those with special permission can enter, and the mystical nature remains in place.
Special prayer experience in the forest where you can't enter (currently finished)
In the past, there was an opportunity to pray at the sacred forest "Entrance no Mori." (Limited time only, December 1, 2020 to February 2, 2021.) This was a special prayer that was said to have also been received by the lord of Kaga Domain, Maeda Toshiie and his wife Matsu, and many people came to this prayer in pursuit of the benefits.
Formal attire for prayers, men were required to wear suits and women were required to wear suits. This is to provide a decent tribute to a ritual in a sacred place.
The story was about to enter the forest where we were unable to enter and pray for two or two applause at a far-off place of worship, giving us a more energetic spirit than the gods, and praying for health and happiness, but many people who had actually experienced it said, "That was exactly what happened."

First, we will perform an exorcism, and as the sound of Japanese drums echoes, we will hold two prayers and two applauses at the shrine before entering the forest. In the forest, private language and photography are prohibited, and you will concentrate on experiencing the sacred atmosphere in silence.
Once you step in, you will be overwhelmed by the power that the unentering forest releases. My body is resting and it feels very comfortable. It was a cold day, but after visiting the shrine, the chills disappeared from my body and I was truly at ease.
It was a very valuable and valuable experience. It was such a wonderful experience that I would like to enter the forest that I couldn't enter again and visit.
A divine ritual that brings spring to the Umomatsuri and Noto
(Umai Photo provided by Kita Taisha)

Every year on April 8th, Kida Taisha Shrine holds a special ritual called the Uno Festival. This is known as a festival that invites spring to Noto and is designated as an important intangible folk cultural property in the country.
The cormorant festival begins with the priest entering the sea and capturing the cormorants. Captured cormorants are offered to the gods and are used for rituals to pray for a good catch, a great harvest, and for people's health.
The biggest highlight of the Umo Festival is the scene where the priest releases cormorants into the sea. The cormorants flapped their wings towards the sky, and its appearance seems to symbolize the strength of life. The Umo Festival is a festival that prays for harmony between nature and humans, and you can feel the depth of faith among the people of Noto.
